The Nigeria nation has never witness so much protest than the current spate of unrest trailing the recent concluded governorship election which took place across the country.
Many analysts and political experts had raised doubt about a smooth transition process which will be the first democratic handing over to another democratically elected government. Recent events showed the lack of sincerity on the part of the government and its electoral agency to conduct a credible election.
Throughout the crannies of the country, there are mass protest by groups and oppostions as regards the election held last weekend, with complaints based on non-participation, carting away ballot boxes (bags), thuggery and other social vices. The case of Edo state was a typical example of Federal might over the will of the people in a situation where the opposition was clearly leading all through the time of collation only to be upturned at the venue of announcing the results, or what do one call a situation where a deputy governor of a state makes away the ballot bags in Ondo state, and Anambra where electoral officers were nowhere to be found only for election result to be announced declaring another son of the PDP (Papa Deceives Pikin) party as the winner, when a highly qualified candidate was disenfranchised by the electoral body inorder to pave way for the ruling party.
It is high time we do things right, the proper way as history will not forgive us if we fail to give a good legacy to our children and those yet unborn.
Our rulers should know how they came into power, it was because of the collective will of the people to stand against oppression and over bearing military rule that launched them unto the rock at Aso, they should now compensate the people by conducting credible, free and fair election, not suppressing their will.
What footmark are you leaving in the sand of time, "he who has ears let him hear what the spirit is saying"
